HI I recently evicted a tenant and have a judgment. The former tenant has not returned my calls, so I would like to move forward with a garnishment. I have done some research and found you can garnish an account or wages. I called the tenants employer to verify she still works there as I didn't want to waist time and money if she didn't and found that she no longer works there.
My question is I have her checking account number, How do I go about garnishing it? and how long will it take? Do I need a mailing address for her or can I put the property address that she rented at?
Also I called the merchant line to verify funds and found she has less than $500 in the account and she owes almost $2000.
I know that I file at the magistrate court in Cobb Co but would like to know the process and what to expect? and if it is something I can do myself or should I hire an attorney?
Thanks in advance for your help.
